Hi, I'm Gunny, the President and CEO of EGA Imports. Along with my two Sons’ a family owned and operated business. After a career in the United States Marine Corps, other business ventures, jobs and not being able to figure out what I wanted to do when I grew up. I found myself delivering supplies to our great troops in the Middle East. And let me say, one of the proudest things that I have ever done in my life. Being able to work with the Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force troops that I worked with in Iraq was an honor and I thank each and every one of them for their service and sacrifice. A Special Thanks to the Marines that kept me and my guy’s safe while I was there.

During my time in Iraq I would take R&R trips to Thailand. Thailand was always a place that I wanted to see. But I just never had the opportunity. While in Thailand I fell in Love with the beauty of the country and the people of Thailand. They are a very happy, proud and courteous people. It is truly the "Land of Smiles". They take a lot of pride in their work and there a very artistic people. While in the villages of Thailand I noticed that they make almost everything that they use in their everyday lives. They don't have Big Box store's to buy everything from, like we do. For the most part they are a very poor people, so the really don't have the funds either. They make their own beds (pillows), reed mats that they use to sit on, eat on, and even sometimes sleep on. They weave their own baskets; they can make their own clothes and handbags. They can even make their own furniture. They use the land and nature that they love so much to make these items. They use Bamboo, Reed Grasses, Rice Stalks and Kapok, just to name a few. They try not to waste anything. They use their artistic skills and craftsmanship that has been handed down through generations. They use these skills to make their lives easier and more comfortable. They also use these skills to supplement their incomes while they are waiting to plant and harvest their rice. Rice is the one central item that all of their lives revolve around. This usually happens twice a year. They sell these products at local markets. During my time there in the villages, I observed the things that they made by hand, and the skill and craftsmanship they used. I thought it would be a great idea to offer these product's to people in the United States and around the world. I could also help my friends and family in Thailand to market their products on a larger scale.

So along with my two sons’ we opened our online store, My Thailand Treasures. We're proud to offer you the best in Quality and Exotic Home Decor Accessories, Women's Handbags/Purses, both Silk and Cotton Skirts and Dress', Beautiful Silk Scarves, Reed Mats, Beach Sarongs, Fisherman Pants and more. All of our products are handmade, with almost all of them made by our friends and family, exclusively for our customers. No middle man. One of our goals is to eventually have all of our products made only for our customers. These products are not made in the factories of Bangkok. There Made in the villages of Northeastern Thailand. There made with the skill and techniques that have been used for centuries in Thailand. Of course we help ourselves in this venture but it it’s also a way for us to help the people of Thailand that we love so much. We will be adding new products all the time. And if there are any products that our customers would like us to carry, or look for in our trips to Thailand please feel free to contact us. I'm definitely willing to listen to any new ideas. I certainly don’t pretend to have all the ideas. I’ll be traveling to Thailand from time to time to find more items that our customers would like.
